Welcome to this website. Why ‘being sixty….’? One reason is we are sixty and don’t believe it. Until very recently, to each of us sixty was old. Maybe even ancient. Now, we can do the maths, subtracting one calendar year from another, and we know that logically, and mathematically, we have reached sixty, or more. But we still don’t believe it! In our heads we are really just teenagers. Sure, some things may take a little longer, but we can still do them. And do!
So this website is really a celebration. On being sixty. Tell us about the things that being sixty means to you. About the things you do – and maybe about anything you can’t do, and what that also means to you. Share your experiences, delights, frustrations, concerns and pains of being sixty. Photos, videos, articles, poems – all welcome. Happy to hear about your reflections, your thoughts and ideas, as well as your activities.
However by the time you get to sixty, you have developed standards and tastes. You appreciate quality, and despair at mediocrity. We like well-written pieces, clear audio items along with in-focus photographs and videos. If grumpy is your thing, then be grumpy with panache. If you have to complain, do it with style and wit.
If your life has not involved words and they baffle you send us an audio file or a video, we’ll work with either. If you want to say it with words but have difficulty with them and want a bit of help with your notes, your doodles, your thoughts then send them through and we’ll hook you up with someone who can help you out. Send what you have and we’ll work it out with you before it goes public.
We look forward to hearing from you. Please no adverts, selling, investment or funeral plans! We reserve the right to edit or reject submissions.
As Mark Twain is reported to have said “rumours of my death are greatly exaggerated”. Long may it stay this way.
